Celia García Asenjo

Senior Researcher

Geographer, educator and environmental consultant. Specialist in public participation processes, knowledge of the territory and its different agents and sectorial characteristics, fundamentally in relation to water: rivers, wetlands, hydrological plans, purification, sustainable development strategies, … as well as being an expert in implementing environmental education and sustainability programmes and projects.

About Celia

Celia is a geographer (University of Valladolid). Master’s Degree in Eco-audits and Environmental Business Planning (Institute of Ecological Research of Malaga).

Her career has always been linked to the territory in the environmental field, from advice, consultancy and environmental education.

With extensive experience in the field of landscape, geography and territory, focusing on environmental restoration and volunteering, rural development, natural spaces and public participation processes. At the same time she has been developing educational programmes in the public sector (University of Valladolid, Regional Ministry of the Environment – Regional Government of Castilla y León, Zamora City Council and other town councils) and management and education management in Parques Reunidos Valwo as well as technical assistance for the Duero Hydrographic Confederation with the implementation of the projects of Schools of Mayors for Rivers and EducaDuero of awareness and sensitisation for educational centres, circular economy, etc. At the same time, she has been part of the development teams of European projects in different phases: Rural Dear Agenda Mojados Sostenible, Life WetMetRivers, Life Cipríber and currently in Life IP Duero.

She also expresses its environmental and social vocation by participating in different projects and associations (CIREF, Save The Children, Splora Foundation).

Her knowledge of the territory and academic training has made her very versatile when it comes to tackling the different professional challenges she has faced.

ICATALIST carries out research and prospecting of the agents and variables of the Douro territory as well as comprehensive consultancy in environmental conservation tools (river custody, nature-based solutions, etc.) for spatial sustainable development. She is also part of the H2020 ReSET project team and provides technical support in the Life INTEMARES project.

Since the beginning of 2023 she has been leading the Education area at ICATALIST.
